Follow-through over one bar is not the same as follow-through over ten bars. A useful definition states the period being observed instead of relying on a vague impression.
Define magnitude
Does any additional movement count, or must the value travel a chosen percentage beyond the boundary? The answer is methodological. PreBreakout can calculate percentage distance but does not choose the threshold.
Avoid circular definitions
If “successful breakout” is defined as a breakout that later succeeded, the label explains nothing. Separate the initial boundary crossing from whatever later criterion you want to study.
Use neutral language
Instead of “strong follow-through”, report observable quantities such as “the hypothetical value moved 2.4% beyond the reference level over three periods.” The numbers can be checked; the adjective cannot.
