Sources & Reference Policy

What PreBreakout treats as a source and why it avoids third-party market feeds.

PreBreakout’s calculators are based on transparent arithmetic shown directly on each page. They do not depend on licensed quote feeds, scraped charts or third-party price APIs.

Primary legal reference

For the boundary between factual educational information and investment recommendations in the EU context, the site’s editorial policy is informed by public materials from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), including its Market Abuse Regulation Q&A and public warnings about investment recommendations. Those materials emphasize that communications can become investment recommendations when they recommend or suggest an investment strategy or express opinions about the present or future value or price of financial instruments.

ESMA Q&A: purely factual information
ESMA: investment recommendations on social media

Formula sources

Where a formula is elementary arithmetic—percentage change, weighted average, drawdown recovery, expected value or a ratio—the formula is stated on-page so users can verify it without trusting a proprietary source. Pattern terminology such as triangle, rectangle, flag and measured move is presented as conventional chart vocabulary, not as empirically validated forecasting evidence.

No market-data attribution layer

Because the launch site does not retrieve, display or redistribute live or delayed securities data, it does not require attribution to a quote vendor or exchange data license for its core pages.
