PreBreakout FAQ

Answers to common questions about market data, calculator inputs, forecasts, privacy and educational use.

Does PreBreakout use live stock prices?

No. The launch site does not retrieve or display live or delayed securities prices.

Can I search for a ticker?

No. There is intentionally no ticker lookup, stock screener, watchlist or “stocks to watch” page.

Are measured-move outputs price targets?

No. The Breakout Target Calculator shows the mechanical result of a measured-move formula applied to values you enter. It does not forecast a security’s future price.

Does a 1:3 reward-to-risk ratio mean a trade is good?

No. It only describes the relationship between user-entered risk and reward distances. Probability is a separate variable.

Where do calculator values go?

In the launch build, calculator values are processed in your browser and are not intentionally sent to a PreBreakout application server.

Why are all chart examples fictional?

Using synthetic charts keeps educational examples separate from opinions about real securities and prevents an old screenshot from becoming misleading as market conditions change.

Will the site ever publish stock picks?

That is outside the intended scope. The product is designed around formulas, definitions and synthetic visual learning rather than recommendations.

Does the Stop Loss Calculator tell me where to place a stop?

No. You enter the stop value. The tool only calculates distance and modeled loss from that assumption.

Does the Maximum Drawdown Calculator use market history?

No. It only evaluates the ordered values you paste into the page. It does not identify a security, retrieve prices or predict future drawdowns.

Is profit factor the same as expectancy?

No. Profit factor compares gross profit with gross loss in a sample. Expectancy expresses an average outcome per observation from win/loss assumptions or sample statistics. The comparison guide shows both on the same fictional sample.

Does PreBreakout rate my profit factor?

No. The calculator returns the ratio and sample arithmetic only. It does not assign “good”, “bad”, “strong” or “weak” labels.

Does the Win Rate Calculator include break-even outcomes?

The primary observed win rate uses wins ÷ (wins + losses), so explicitly break-even outcomes are excluded. The result also shows wins as a share of all closed outcomes including break-even entries so the denominator convention is visible.

Is observed win rate the same as break-even win rate?

No. Observed win rate describes a sample of outcomes. Break-even win rate is a theoretical threshold derived from reward-to-risk geometry.
